  1. Your gift is beautiful and priceless, dear Elaine. Thank you so much ~ and Christmas blessings to you as well! ♥

    • Thank you, Marty. I figured no one wanted to read anything, much less anything sad on Christmas Eve, so I sent a big Christmas card. Glad you found it beautiful, too. With Solstice, Christmas, and New Year’s blessings–and, of course, love.

  2. Beautiful! As I contemplate my EDDD post for today, I have to agree that few will have time to read.
This turned out wonderful and is such a gift to us:>)
    Warm Hugs,
    Patti

    • Thanks for stopping by, Patti. I wait to read a post about packing for Alaska. Blessed Solstice. Soon there will be flowers, bees, and butterflies. Today snow and below zero.
      Gratitude for you,
      Elaine

  3. Thank you for paying attention to the utter beauty all around us.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Elaine!

    • It became my sane-making practice to watch for beauty when my husband was sick. Maybe I always did, Marian, but it became conscious, purposeful, and life-saving during the last seven years. Thanks for taking time to comment this time of year. Hope your dad is recovering. Harder as we get older. Merry Christmas on a frosty sunny day here.

  4. Awesome. These would make a lovely book, or at least a calendar. Thanks so much for your evening glimpses, like prayers. Health, happiness and peace in the New Year, Myra

    • Thank you, Myra. Prayers sent from the Great Unknown. I hope all is well on your side of the hill and Rachel is home. Thanks so much for saying sunsets are prayers. No new projects for me, so the calendar will have to wait for another year. Blessed Solstice and Return of Light, Elaine.

  5. The Great Beauty, the Great Mystery, the Great Creation. All hail the Sun and Moon, inside and out.

    • Myra said it just right, Lauren. These sunsets are like prayers–my evening prayers. They hold me to this land and place and I never tire of watching the sky. (Solid gray yesterday, but a bright frosty Christmas morning, so perhaps a beautiful sunset tonight.)
      Blessed Solstice love to you,
      Elaine

  6. Elaine your photography is as beautiful as your writing. Merry Christmas! 🙂

    • Thank you, Debby, and thanks for taking the time during holidays and a book launch to write a comment. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  7. Beautiful idea the sunset photos.
    Merry Christmas Elaine!

    • Thank you, Nati. I love hanging out with my camera and watching for beauty, so this was a natural for me–and I figured that anyone who “reads” my blog would be grateful for sunset prayers rather than words. Glad you liked it. Merry Christmas and Blessed Solstice.

  8. Your gorgeous photographs filled me with warmth and joy. Thank you for your reminders of the beauty that surrounds us and is within us. Merry Christmas, Elaine.

    • Thank you, Jeanie. Another gorgeous 10 minute sunset at the end of a gray afternoon today. Sunset heaven on my hill. Gratitude for Birth of the Child Within and Return of Light, Elaine

  9. Poignant and heart expanding

    • There are these evening sunsets on this hill, often after a gray day. Keeps me living here, Lisa. I love the quiet and beauty of this land. Thanks for taking time during a busy season to comment. Much appreciated.

  10. Inspiring…thanks for the gift of your vision

    • Thank you, Randi. I’m glad you find the images beautiful, too. It became a spiritual practice when my husband Vic had cancer and was dying to look for beauty or kindness in my surroundings. Vic’s focus was on kindness. Mine, too, but when I’m alone, it’s beauty that keeps me more or less balanced.

  11. I keep returning to these images of light, Elaine, and know this sacred place on Seneca Lake first hand. They would make a beautiful wall calendar. And certain lines from poems you quote in your book could serve as captions to the glory of awakening.

    • Oh boy, Jill, another project. I hope you’re thinking a 2015 calendar, and I imagine you are. Hmmmm…I’ve seen tote bags and beautiful postcards related to new books, but not a calendar. Quite a few people have suggested a calendar, so I’ll keep taking those sunset photos and see what I come up with by summer. Glad I sent photos instead of a blog. You are the Queen of Good Ideas. Thank you.

  12. A year in sunsets. What a great idea. The July photo captivates my imagination. I see an inverted keyhole to the right. In invites me to explore new beginnings.

Best of luck to you and your new book in 2014!!!!

    Yay,

    Kathleen

    • Thanks, Kathleen. I see the keyhole with a ray of light rising up to the heavens. My next blog post will be only photos again, 12 of something else (a secret), then back to stories and text. Since I post on New Year’s Eve, I figure readers would prefer a quick look over a longer read. Thanks for stopping by and for good wishes. Hope for good news for you and your book in 2014.
      Warmly, Elaine
